Day 52 31st May 2011

Here is the non-camera shy swans again, this time they were further up stream by Ladies Bridge, i suppose that is a bit of an assumption that they are the same swans I snapped a couple of weeks ago but who knows swans all look the same..... don't they?

Monday 30 May 2011

Day 51 30th May 2011

Rothbury Street Fair day, this was the setting up stage in the morning, note the damp and the grey sky, unfortunately i didn't get anymore photos as i was at work, yes even on a bank holiday. When i finished about 5.20pm it was all virtually packed away and do you know what? the sun was shining!

Sunday 29 May 2011

Day 50 29TH May 2011

Tea on the terrace at Rothbury House today, I heard that the shortbread was particularly delicious! Rothbury House is a very impressive old building, formerly the County Hotel, the gardens are quite spectacular too, I just love all the poppies.

Day 49 28th May 2011

A lovely wedding in Rothbury today, such a beautiful dress on a beautiful bride, I reckon she was oblivious to her train on the wet ground and the wind having fun with her veil, her bridesmaids were trying their best to keep it under control.

Friday 27 May 2011

Day 48 27th May 2011

Rothbury has a very active tennis club, so today i thought i would head down there and take a photo of some tennis activity..... but today there was nobody there so i turned round and took a photo of the old mart which is just over the other side of the river from the tennis club.

Thursday 26 May 2011

Day 47 26th May 2011

The Coquetvale Hotel
This is one of the best places to have a meal in Rothbury, nice food, nice staff, nice wine and a nice atmosphere.

Wednesday 25 May 2011

Day 46 25th May 2011

Photo of the day today is the bumble bee garden outside Rothbury visitor centre, no bumble bees to be seen today though, I reckon it might have been just a wee bit too chilly for them.

Tuesday 24 May 2011

Day 45 24th May 2011

Lots of bits of tree around today in random places in Rothbury, you definitely had to watch where you were going. Yes, that is my hand trying to keep warm in gloves, the sun might have been shining but it was still blooming cold!

Day 44 23rd May 2011

Stormy Stormy day in Rothbury, unfortunately the first picture doesn't really show how much the branches of the tree were blowing around in fact it looks like a nice quiet Rothbury scene...... but the camera has lied it was very wild as you can see from photo number 2, this tree was not up to the battering it got, I daresay there will be a few more around like this

Sunday 22 May 2011

Day 43 22nd May 2011

Peaceful doves enjoying a quiet Sunday morning forage around the memorial cross little did they know how wild the rest of the day was going to turn out

Saturday 21 May 2011

Day 42 21st May 2011

Saturday night in Rothbury!
Takeaway curry it was not, I peeled and chopped and cooked it all, it might look like a dogs dinner but it was quite tasty and did taste much better than it looks. The wine was quite acceptable too, half price bargain at the Co-op!

Friday 20 May 2011

Thursday 19 May 2011

Day 40 19th May 2011

Sometimes when going about your normal daily routine you spot something that,  strikes a chord. I spotted this message on the notice board outside the United Reformed Church, it certainly made me have a ponderous moment or two.

Wednesday 18 May 2011

Day 39 18th May 2011

Here is another des-res these chickens look more than content with their abode they are not even spooked by being right next to the cemetery

day 38 17th May 2011

If you look closely at the tree you might just make out a couple of bat boxes, I wonder if that is a des res for the bats while there is bridge works going on. I think it is quite an interesting photo, although any photographers out there might think differently, but I like it.

Monday 16 May 2011

Day 37 16th May 2011

I hope that you won't get bored with another bluebell photo but I couldn't resist this stunning view over towards Simonside and bluebells will be finished before too much longer so we may as well enjoy them while we can.

Sunday 15 May 2011

Day 36 15th may 2011

May is beautiful bluebell time! On my hunt for some, Wagtail Road did not disappoint I didn't have to search for too long before I found a colourful patch

Day 35 14th May 2011

Those of you who don't know Rothbury might look at this picture and think "What on earth is that? Is that a bus shelter? What a funny place to put a bus shelter!" In fact it is a "youth Shelter" Rothbury doesn't actually have a bus shelter anywhere, so when the north wind is blowing and the rain is lashing down and you want to go off to Morpeth or Newcastle on the bus don't expect to wait on the bus with any protection from the elements!

Day 34 13TH May 2011

Everyday I pass this old care home that is now up for sale, I can't help thinking of the possibilities...... could this be a new home for the family with the bottom floor being a new home for Coccuveda?

Day 33 12th May 2011

Jacobs ladder in Rothbury first photo from the top and second from the bottom, don't ask me how many steps there are as I lost count after the first 10

Day 32 11TH MAY 2011

Not one to be put of with yesterdays lack of wildlife, on the way to open up Coccuveda i decided to go the long way over the footbridge at the Cow Haugh carpark, there I came across a pair of very cooperative swans, just wish I had some bread to reward them with

Tuesday 10 May 2011

Day 31 10th May 2011

Today i was hoping to capture a bit of wildlife for my photo of the day, it proved very difficult wildlife was most elusive I saw one bunny but it scarpered before I got my camera switched on. Never mind I was passing a field of cows  I thought that  would make a colourful picture , as I picked my spot close enough for a decent shot the cows started running off too.Even a lucky black cat decided to turn its back on me!

Monday 9 May 2011

Day 30 9th May 2011

The first photo was taken from the shelter of a huge National Park brolly, the picture doesn't really capture the heaviness of the shower. I couldn't resist the next photo as the colour of the ominous sky really makes the trees in the background so vibrant. I managed to get home before it chucked it down again though.

Sunday 8 May 2011

Rothbury Daily: Day 29 8th May 2011

Rothbury Daily: Day 29 8th May 2011: "Sometimes when I take the photos for this blog I have trouble deciding which photo to use, so again you are being treated to two, the view..."

Day 29 8th May 2011

Sometimes when I take the photos for this blog I have trouble deciding which photo to use, so again you are being treated to two, the views today are taken from Carterside Road overlooking the golf course towards Rothbury. We do live in such a beautiful place, the timing today was perfect as all the thundery showers had gone and we were back to lovely blue skies

Saturday 7 May 2011

Day 28 7th May2011

Not the best of days for a Rothbury photo as it is a bit damp and misty as you can see. This was taken from an underused carpark at Beggars Ridge in Rothbury, the views are stunning and you have a nice riverside path to walk along in to the centre of Rothbury, or you can even rest a while on the bench just enjoying the view

Friday 6 May 2011

Day 27 6th May 2011

The market cross in Rothbury was erected in 1902 to the memory of Lord and Lady Armstrong of Cragside, on a nice sunny day it is the ideal spot to relax with a half pint of lager from the Newcastle Hotel opposite, nobody there today though might have something to do with it being an ordinary work/schoolday

Thursday 5 May 2011

Day 26 5th May 2011

The polling station in Rothbury, as you can see there is not exactly a stampede to put an x in the box. Only the AV vote here as there is no council election today. I feel a bit sorry for Nick Clegg as I can't help thinking that the AV referendum is a lollipop for him from David Cameron just to keep him on side and quiet!

Wednesday 4 May 2011

Day 25 4th May 2011

There was a bit of entertainment en route to work this morning, the environment agency were removing a tree from the river, I don't know how the tree got there.

Tuesday 3 May 2011

Day 24 3rd May 2011

The Parish Hall in Rothbury was built on the site of an old hostelry  The Three Half moons, it is used for more gentile activities now with tea and cakes being served on the grass outside yesterday, May Day Bank holiday, by members of the church. The chocolate coconut balls were delicious Mrs Brindley

Monday 2 May 2011

Day 23 2nd May 2011

An atmospheric shot of Sharpes Folly in blue sky with the sun blazing, surprisingly it was still blooming chilly!

Sunday 1 May 2011

Day 22 1st May 2011

This is the view from the top of Garleigh Bank looking towards Cragside, despite the beautiful bright blue sky there was a wee bit of a chilly breeze so I didn't hang about for too long admiring the view
